Change and transformation is guaranteed when the pioneer leader chooses to respond to the followers from the point of love by touching their hearts not just their heads. Just like I had said in the previous essays that real change and transformation happens when the hearts of the followers are being influenced in helping them become their ideal selves, the pioneer leader must make the transformation of his followers his ultimate goal.
The description of love by Paul continues, thus:
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others: Being a follower is like being a child, who by virtue of lack of experience, is bound to make mistakes. It is expected of the pioneer to ignore these mistakes as they are intended to help the followers discover what they are capable of doing. While some of these mistakes could expensive, the pioneer should not keep score of them. Keeping score of them will inhibit the transformation process and the entire outcome of the results intended to be achieved within time and space.
Doesn’t revel when others grovel: I have encountered leaders who appear to be excited to see their followers fail in carrying out a task assigned to them. Many of these experience are often seen in some of our universities where a lecturer would set examinations to fail the students, deliberately. I find it difficult to understand why that is so. Leaders, getting excited that their follower are missing the mark, should see that as an indictment to their efforts. No parents would desire their children to fail in life. Never! But we often find this in the work places. Never take advantage of the vulnerability of your followers for whatever reason as a leader.
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth: Truth sharing is one of the fundamental things that should happens in leadership when transformation is intended saddled with love. It is often the case that we speak the truth to those we love without minding how they will feel about it, hence, the pioneer leader should understand that what causes transformation is the sharing of truth. Sometimes, truth sharing can be difficult to accept, but over time it produces the required results in the lives of the followers.
Puts up with anything: Every mother understands the difficulty associated with nurturing a baby into an adult, but never would complain about it. They put up with it. Just like a mother, the pioneer leader should be able to put up with the character flaws of the followers, because at that level of their lives, they cannot not have those flaws. Putting up with those is intended to help them curb them. Of course, children will always make a mess of virtually everything, but mothers never leave in those mess.
Love, indeed, conquers all.
