Many of the problems faced in leadership is associated with missing the rhythm of the timing in getting things done when they ought to be done, which is the primary determinant of every result gotten. It is one thing to carry out a task, yet, another thing to do it in time.
Understanding the rhythm and living your life within that spectrum of thought is something every pioneer leader must aspire to do, else he or she will be left behind in time, and will suddenly become obsolete. Until your time is managed properly, you can never be sure of the results.
In developing the attitude for time management, there are four things you do, and they are:
1. You must desire to manage your time very well. You cannot begin or have a thing unless you first of all desire to have that thing. While that is true for everything other aspect of your life, desiring to manage you time must begin with the thought process that affords you luxury that your thoughts are possible.
2. Make a decision to act upon your desire to manage your time well. This requires you to make changes that affords you the liberty to bring to pass your desire for time management. To make a decision means that after having considered why your time was mismanaged, you must be deliberate on the things you must stop and/or start doing in order to gain back time.
3. You must determine to stay with your decision. It is one thing to make a decision, yet, another thing to stick to it. Making a decision could be easy but sticking to that decision could be harder, so, as someone who is poised towards making a lasting change, you must determine to stick to your decision towards time management.
4. You must be disciplined. Discipline here is the ability to make yourself do what ought to be done, the way it ought to be done, and when it ought to be done, regardless of how it makes you feel. By all means develop the routine of always doing something when you have to do it in order to save yourself from beating off the rhythm of life.
In leadership, nothing just happens unless the pioneer leaders want them to happen. Results are achieved because leaders did what they ought to do within time and space. So, the pace at which you and your team move in the direction of actualizing the leadership purpose is strictly at your beck and call, which you must decide to take the responsibility for. Choose to manage your time well from now henceforth and watch things change in your leadership for the better.
